New York Giants at Detroit Lions (*Survivor Pool Recommendation Of The Week*)

Let’s cut to the chase here. The Giants offense was a huge disappointment last season as Eli Manning just didn’t look like himself whilst throwing what seemed to be a never ending series of interceptions. The bad news (for Giants fans) is that he hasn’t really looked any better in the preseason as he’s tried to learn a new offense. You add to those issues the fact that they have to go on the road and face a high powered Detroit offense and this game doesn’t look promising for the G-men. Look for Detroit’s stars on both sides of the ball (Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh) to have big days and carry Detroit to a comfortable victory.

Giants 17 Lions 27

San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals

This prediction may surprise some people since the Cardinals are at home and actually finished the regular season last year with a better record than the Chargers. My concerns with the Cards are two fold. First, I think the losses of Karlos Dansby and Darnell Dockett will make Arizona’s defense much more vulnerable up the middle. Second, I’m a Carson Palmer skeptic. I just don’t believe he will produce at a high level consistently and I’ll even go so far as to say I don’t think he’ll finish the season as Arizona’s starter. I also think that San Diego will have a great passing attack this season with Phillip Rivers, Keenan Allen, Antonio Gates, and Ladarius Green. I’ll take the Chargers in a mild upset here.

Chargers 27 Cardinals 24
