NFL: 9 players ready to produce for new teams
T.J. Ward
Cleveland Browns to Denver Broncos
Last season T.J. Ward introduced himself to the NFL world. The hard-hitting safety had a breakout year where he made Second Team All-Pro, and the Pro Bowl.
Ward is one of the best safeties when it comes to stopping the run. He often goes to the line of scrimmage and makes plays to stop rushing attempts. Ward will be one of the premier safeties for the Broncos, a defense who had a bunch of defensive woes.
Next year playing with a quarterback like Peyton Manning, Ward will have the offensive support to continue to gamble and make big plays. In addition he will also be in a brighter spotlight playing in Denver.
Last season the Denver Broncos saw first hand the impact of what a hard-hitting safety can do to an offense. When Kam Chancellor flattened Demarius Thomas in the Super Bowl it took the wind out of the Broncos sails. With Ward this year, wide receivers will have to pay the price for even attempting to catch the football anywhere near the bone collector Ward’s presence.
