5 underrated NBA rookies to watch for in 2014
By Evan Massey
3. Glenn Robinson III, Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota was able to snag Robinson with the 40th overall pick in the draft, and are extremely excited to have him on the roster. He was expected to go in the first round by quite a few analysts, but teams decided to pass on him for various reasons. There are quite a few changes occurring in Minnesota, and that will allow Robinson to step into a role immediately.
Robinson ended up averaging 13.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Those numbers aren’t big numbers, but he did show the potential to score the ball, albeit inconsistently at Michigan. Minnesota just traded away franchise player Kevin Love, and that signified the rebuilding process that is about to begin for the Timberwolves.
It will be interesting to see what type of numbers Robinson ends up recording in his rookie year, but he will receive the minutes to make an impact. He has a lot to work on about his game to be able to score at the NBA level, but he has the raw talent to get there. Assuming he works hard and showings the willingness to be learn and be coached by an NBA staff, he will be just fine this year and will put up good numbers.
