5 underrated NBA rookies to watch for in 2014
By Evan Massey
5. Roy Devyn Marble, Orlando Magic
Orlando selected Marble with the 56th overall pick in the draft, and believe that he is more than capable of taking on a role either this season or in the very near future. More than likely, he will end up working his way into minutes this year and will be able to prove his game to the league. At Iowa last year, he was one of the main leaders on the team and helped lead the Hawkeyes to a 20-13 record.
He averaged 17.0 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game last season with the Hawkeyes, and also put up 1.8 steals per game. The Magic traded away Arron Afflalo last season, and could use Marble as a backup to second-year player Victor Oladipo. There are plenty of ways that Marble could help the Magic out this season, and he has a great work ethic and is always ready when his number is called.
Don’t be surprised to see him be the most underrated rookie that comes through with a nice season. He will have to battle for every minute that he receives in Orlando, but they believe that he is going to be a nice addition for their rebuilding process. Marble may not have a big name among NBA rookies, but he is one of the players with the most potential outside of the top draft picks.
