NFL Overreactions Week 1: Jaguars lose, regain identity
Tony Romo shows young NFL QB’s what it’s like to be great at being horrible
In an effort to show the new class of rookie quarterbacks what a bust does, Romo threw three interceptions against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the first half. After the game, the Niners gave Romo the game ball saying that “they couldn’t have earned the win without him.”
There’s no way to sugar coat this: Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys looked horrible against the Niners on Sunday in their 28-17 loss. Even though it was Romo’s first meaningful game since undergoing back surgery in December.
Romo threw for 281 yards on the day and also tossed a pair of second half touchdowns, however the damage was already done. The Cowboys had a total of four turnovers in the first half, the first one being a fumble on the Cowboys opening drive which was returned by Chris Culliver for a touchdown.
Safety Eric Reid was the first to pick off Romo, setting up the Niners offense at the Dallas two-yard line. San Francisco led 28-3 at halftime, scoring 21 points off of the turnovers.
“I felt comfortable,” Romo said. “Just couple poor decisions that I made tonight.”
For the record, the memes have already begun.
