Jacksonville nearly pulls upset at Philadelphia, then realizes they’re in the wrong by trying to win

In a game where teams should know their place, the Jacksonville Jaguars nearly pulled what would have been one of the more unexpected upsets of Week 1, going up 17-0 at halftime.  However, at the half, head coach Gus Bradley went up to Chip Kelly and told him, “we’re just kidding.”  The Eagles outscored the Jags 34-0 in a second half where the Jaguars toned themselves down to the level their supposed to be at because “losing teams should know their place in the NFL.”

The Eagles suffered a slow start against the Jags on Sunday, trailing 17-0 at halftime.  They rebounded quickly, outscoring the Jaguars 34-0 at half to win 34-17.

Jacksonville’s undrafted rookie free-agent Allen Hurns caught a pair of early touchdown passes from Chad Henne in first half, however Nick Foles and the Eagles responded in the second half, scoring touchdowns on their first two possessions of the second half.  Foles launched a 68-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin in the fourth quarter to put the Eagles ahead.

It was a close call for Philly, and an even closer call for the Jaguars, however if Sunday’s opening game means anything, Jacksonville could be somewhat competitive this year.
