NFL power rankings Week 1: Monday morning ranks
By Josh Sanchez
Everyone was waiting to see how the Kansas City Chiefs would follow up an impressive season from a year ago, and it did not go according to Andy Reid’s plan.
Not only were the Chiefs dominated by the Tennessee Titans, but the team watched defensive starters Derrick Johnson and Mike DeVito carted off the field with lower leg injuries. According to the early reports, both players will be lost for the season with ruptured Achilles tendons.
On offense, things weren’t much better.
Jamaal Charles touched the ball just 11 times for 34 yards.
It says a lot when Alex Smith, who followed up his big money contract extension with a three-interception performance, is your leading rusher when you have a stud like Charles in the backfield.
To make matters worse for Kansas City, they need to try to bounce back next weekend against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
