Entering the season, Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jameis Winston was a heavy favorite to repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner.

However, much like Texas A&M Aggies’ Johnny Manziel, Winston is under a microscope and although he has not played poorly, the Seminoles’ offense hasn’t put up the same kind of numbers they did last year.

During each of the last two weeks, two players on contending teams have had huge days. Georgia Bulldogs’ running back Todd Gurley rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns while returning a kick for a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 45-21 win over the Clemson Tigers.

Then, last week, in a 46-29 come-from-behind victory over the Michigan State Spartans, Oregon Ducks’ quarterback Marcus Mariota went 17-of-28 for 318 yards with three touchdowns and rushed for another 42 yards. Mariota and Gurley now both have better odds to win the trophy than Winston.
