Update, Sept. 10 (3:05pm ET) Panthers head coach Ron Rivera noted that Newton is going to play on Sunday unless something pops up injury-wise between now and then.

Update, Sept. 10 (1:01pm ET) The Detroit Lions and head coach Jim Caldwell aren’t buying into the injury concerns and are expecting to see Cam Newton under center on Sunday.

Update, Sept. 10 (12:27pm) Cam Newton is in full pads jogging at practice, which is a good sign that he’s going to play this Sunday.
