Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers

This was one of the games I really struggled with. Current reports say that Cam Newton will play on Sunday. Can those reports be trusted? After all, reports said he would likely play last week too. Assuming he does play, will he be at full strength? I’m not a huge believer in the Detroit defense, but their offense is impressive. The Carolina defense looked to still be a force in week one against the Buccaneers. So while I was impressed with how Matt Stafford looked last week, I’m not sure I trust him to go on the road and beat one of the best defenses in the NFL just yet. I’ll take the Panthers in another close one here.

St. Louis Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sorry to any St. Louis and Tampa Bay fans out there, but this matchup actually makes the Jacksonville vs. Washington game look interesting (okay, maybe that’s exaggerating). Regardless, this one looks pretty painful on paper. The St. Louis offense looked so bad last weekend at home that I simply can’t pick them to go on the road and beat anyone until they prove they are capable on the field, especially now that they’ve lost Chris Long on the defensive side of the ball. I may not be a big believer in Tampa Bay this season, but I’ll take them to get a win against a reeling Rams team.
