The Armchair Quarterback’s Guide to the NFL: Week 2
Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers
I think the Bears losing to the Bills at home was my biggest surprise of week one. I was pretty confident that the Bears offense was going to come out and put on a show this season. So now the question becomes was Chicago’s offense not as good as I thought or is the Buffalo defense just that much better? Meanwhile, the 49ers defense, while depleted by injuries, suspensions, etc were still able to force turnovers by Tony Romo. While Cutler isn’t as bad as Romo at giving the ball away he has been known to throw an untimely pick or two. I’ll take the 49ers at home in this one.
Bears 24
49ers 27
Philadelphia Eagles at Indianapolis Colts
This is one of those games where my head is telling me one thing and my gut is telling me another. Logic says that the Colts are too good of team to start the year 0-2 and that they are at home. Plus they have the better QB in Andrew Luck. However, my gut says that Philadelphia has better playmakers around their QB (especially at the RB position) and that playing indoors in that dome may favor Philly more than the Colts. I think I’m going to follow my gut on this one and take Chip Kelly’s Eagles to pull the upset on Monday night in a high scoring battle.
Eagles 34
Colts 30
That will do it for this week’s Armchair Quarterback’s Guide to the NFL. If you think I’ve picked any (or all) of these games wrong, I’d love to hear your justifications in the comments below. Thanks for reading and enjoy these week two games.
