Game: Houston Texans (-3) at Oakland Raiders

Pick: Oakland (+3)

I will avoid this game, which won’t feature Jadeveon Clowney, at all costs on Sunday. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Derek Carr? No thanks.

(Take the home underdog.)

Game: New York Jets at Green Bay Packers (-8)

Pick: Green Bay (-8)

Great quarterbacks hate losing, but they especially hate humiliation and embarrassment. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers suffered both of those things when they were annihilated by the Seahawks on opening night. But, being the league’s best quarterback, Rodgers will only turn that anger into production. It wouldn’t shock me if he threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns. The poor, poor Jets.

Game: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos (-13.5)

Pick: Denver (-13.5)

Yeah, 13.5 points is a looooooot of points. But, again, the Chiefs suck. And now they’re without linebacker Derrick Johnson and defensive tackle Mike DeVito. Peyton Manning won’t have mercy. Last season, the Broncos won nine games by 14 or more points, and there’s little reason to believe their offense can’t be just as explosive this season. Have I mentioned that the Chiefs suck?
