Seattle Mariners’ Logan Morrison slides juuuuuuust a bit outside (Video)

Umpires in Major League Baseball will give baserunners a bit of leeway on attempts to break up double plays at second base.
Just not as much leeway as Logan Morrison of the Seattle Mariners was attempting to get.
Oakland Athletics shortstop Jed Lowrie was nowhere near second base while attempting to make a relay throw to first after Mike Zunino hit a grounder to second base with one on and one out in the bottom of the second in Seattle Saturday night.

But Lowrie couldn’t get the throw off after Morrison slid a tiny bit (read: nearly not in the same county) wide of second base.
Second base umpire Brian Gorman wasn’t buying it—Zunino was ruled out at first for an inning-ending double play.
It’s a battle of aces Saturday night at Safeco Field as the reeling A’s—who are 15-25 since the end of July and have gone from a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West to an 11-game deficit entering play Saturday—look to hold off the M’s in the wild-card race.
Seattle was tied with the Kansas City Royals just a half-game behind Oakland for the first AL wild card spot at the start of play Saturday.
