NFL Week 2 Odds: 5 best bets against the spread
By Brad Rowland
Tennessee Titans (-3.5) over Dallas Cowboys
Tennessee is better than you think.
Dallas is worse than you think.
If there is a worry with the Titans, it is with the health and durability of Jake Locker, but when healthy (as he is now), the former Washington Huskies QB is an electric talent. Tennessee doesn’t possess a lights-out running game at this stage, but they have the most underrated receiving corps in the NFL (led by Kendall Wright) and Locker is clearly an above-average player when he is upright. Throw in a defense that has the tools to be a top-12 unit, and suddenly, Tennessee looks pretty appealing.
On the other side, the week 1 flop from the Cowboys is simply an indicator of things to come. Are they that bad? Probably not, but even if we simply ignore Tony Romo’s apparent physical limitations at this point (yikes), Dallas is “blessed” with arguably the worst defensive talent in the NFL. I have little doubt that the Cowboys will right the ship, at least to a point, on the offensive side of the ball, but Tennessee presents road blocks in that quest, and the Titans are going to carve up the less-than-stellar defense from Jerry’s squad.
