NFL Overreactions Week 2: Jets one-up the Giants choke
Raiders “All In” to be worst team in the league, aiming to troll ALL of Raider Nation
After realizing who they really are, the Raiders decided to play flat in their home opener against the Houston Texans. “We are who you think we are,” head coach Dennis Allen said as he laughed at the media. “And we suck. I can’t believe you thought we’re really going to win anything this year.” Rookie Derek Carr finally looked the part of a rookie, and is hoping that Allen makes the switch to Matt Schaub so he doesn’t have to deal with the continuous failure that is Raiders football. Carr also told all of the fans at halftime to go home and that he will find a way to refund everyone their money they spent on tickets and transportation because “Raider Nation has been loyal to us for all of these years. There comes a point when you have to feel bad for a fan base.”
Despite a sellout and a lot of excitement about this year’s Raiders team, Oakland looked flat out horrible in their 30-14 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday in Oakland, falling to 0-2 on the season.
The Raiders offense seemed to be in more of a rhythm than they were last week against the Jets, and again finished on a strong note, with Derek Carr throwing a nine-yard touchdown pass to James Jones in the final seconds. Carr finished his day with 263 yards passing, the touchdown pass to Jones and his first two interceptions.
Carr also led the team in rushing on the day, running for 58 yards on four carries, while Darren McFadden struggled to the tune of 37 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown in the fourth quarter, helping Oakland avoid the shutout.
While the offense seemed to get into rhythm, the defense looked terrible, allowing Texans runningback Arian Foster to rush for 138 yards with a 40-yard touchdown to open the scoring.
The season doesn’t get any easier for Oakland going forward, as they travel to New England to take on the Patriots next week, then fly to London for a game against the Dolphins the following Sunday. If the Raiders continue to struggle, it could only be a matter of time if Dennis Allen decides to make a switch to Matt Schaub to see if they can get any kind of spark, regardless of how well Carr is playing.
