Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon an intriguing duo for Orlando Magic
Armed with two lottery picks, the Orlando Magic, the Magic grabbed former Arizona Wildcats’ forward Aaron Gordon, then addressed their point guard situation by taking former Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns’ star Elfrid Payton.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes Payton and Gordon are an intriguing duo and he’s excited to see them his the court.
"This is a very exciting rookie class and there are a lot of players who I’m excited to see. I’m curious to see how the duo of Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton can do in Orlando. ."
Gordon really struggled during the Orlando Pro Summer League but Payton was one of the best players there. Payton should be able to make an impact fairly quickly while it is going to take Gordon quite a big of time.
Payton put up 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game and shot 50.0% from the floor, but just 25.9% from beyond the arc and 59.0% from the free throw line. He measured in at 6’3.75 and 185 lbs. with a wingspan of 6’8 at the NBA’s Scouting Combine.Gordon measured in at 6’8.75″ and 220 lbs. with a wingspan of 6’11.75″ at the NBA’s Scouting Combine. He averaged 12.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field, 35.6% from beyond the arc and 42.2% from the free throw line for the Wildcats last season.
