Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers were the fashionable pick this offseason. They hired Lovie Smith, who took a year off after he was fired by the Chicago Bears.

Smith had some good years leading the Bears. His defenses were always tough playing, opportunistic ball hawks. His offenses, however, usually left something to be desired.

Well, the first decision Smith made was choose a quarterback. He decided to go to his old stomping ground and went after Josh McCown. McCown had a terrific season last year subbing in for the injured Jay Cutler  The problem with McCown is that he doesn’t have Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett to throw to.

So far, the offense has been sluggish. Going into last night’s game, the Bucs were 27th in the NFL in scoring and 28th in yards per game. Things were supposed to go better against the Atlanta Falcons, whose defense has allowed 472 yards per game. The Falcons defense is practically a turnstile of points and yardage for the opposition. Against the Bucs, however, they looked like Pittsburgh’s Steel Curtain. Through the third quarter of the game, the Bucs had more punts than first downs.

Looks like more of the same with Lovie. A lot of people who picked the Bucs have some egg on their faces.
