Kansas City Chiefs

Here is yet another team with championship aspirations that are in danger of falling by the wayside.

The Chiefs are really behind the eight ball starting 0-2. Being in the AFC West, they have to play two games each against the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers. They also have to play against the NFC West, with the Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

One of the surprising things about the Chiefs is the play of Alex Smith. Normally known as a game manager and a quarterback who won’t make mistakes that will kill you, Smith currently has the worst passer rating in the NFL.

Smith had a horrible game in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. He threw three interceptions in a 26-10 loss. He did not throw any picks in Week 2 against the Broncos, but he also did not throw a touchdown pass. He had a chance to tie the game late, but his pass on fourth down was batted down.

In the Broncos game, the Chiefs lost running back Jamaal Charles with a high ankle sprain. He did practice on Thursday, but his status for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins is still uncertain.

It the Chiefs lose a winnable game in Miami, they better start making plans for 2015.
