Game: Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks (-4.5)

Pick: Seahawks (-4.5)

This line is a slap in the face to Seattle. Vegas, which had the Broncos as a 2-point favorite in Super Bowl XLVIII, still doesn’t respect the Seahawks, who I believe should be at least a 7 or 8-point favorite in this one.

This is a Seahawks team that, seven-and-a-half months ago, beat the Broncos by 35 points. And they did it at a neutral site, no less. This is a Seahawks team that has a point-differential of plus-166 at home since the beginning of last season. This is a Seahawks team that was 3-0 (with an average margin of victory of 16 points) following losses last season. I picked Denver to win Super Bowl XLIX, but I envision a blowout this Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

Game: Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins (-3.5)

Pick: Chiefs (+3.5)

The Chiefs, even in a loss, impressed me last week. At Denver, they were two yards shy of pushing the Broncos into overtime. Alex Smith looked like good Alex Smith again. He finished 26-of-42 for 255 yards and a QBR (scale 1-to-100) of 73.7. That’s the game manager that I came to know and love last season! Also worth noting: no Andy Reid team since 1999 has started 0-3.
