Wide Receivers

Start: At some point Sunday, the Vikings will have to focus on getting the ball into the hands of Cordarrelle Patterson as they take on a Saints secondary that has allowed the second-most points to opposing WR so far this year.  Minnesota doesn’t have a ton of playmakers, so PAtterson should be the focus of their offense and get plenty of touches as a result.  Another team that struggles to contain WR, the Giants head to Houston which should result in Andre Johnson‘s first touchdown of the season with a nice fringe WR1 game.  (last week: Michael Floyd, Jeremy Maclin)

Sit: Although I like his long term upside, Kelvin Benjamin isn’t a great play this week as the Panthers take on the Steelers.  Pittsburgh will be looking to bounce back from their Thursday loss in Baltimore last week, and they’ve been shutting down WR in their first two games allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing WR.  Unless Benjamin pulls in a TD it’ll be a tough fantasy week for him.  Even though he is listed as probable, Cecil Shorts shouldn’t be in your lineup this week as he makes his return from injury against a solid Colts secondary. (last week: Keenan Allen, Allen Hurns)

Flier: Like McKinnon from Minnesota, Brian Quick is a player I like from the waiver wire.  I think he’ll continue to be the top receiver on the Rams and St. Louis will be forced to throw to keep up with the Cowboys. Quick has caught seven passes in each of the Rams first two games and almost caught a bomb which would have made his numbers shine even more.  He’s still a little under the radar, but the return of Shaun Hill will only help his stock rise as he takes on a vulnerable Dallas defense this week. (last week: Rod Streater)
