Giants prove they can play football in win over Houston

In an effort to gain whatever fans they’ve lost in the first two weeks of the season the New York Giants decided to prove to everyone that they can actually play football, defeating the Houston Texans 30-17 at Giants Stadium.

Giants wideout Victor Cruz decided to bring the salsa back along with his scoring ability and Rashad Jennings made everyone forget about David Wilson for day.

Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a better beard than game against the Giants, throwing for 289 yards with three interception and a touchdown.  The Giants secondary decided to make things interesting, allowing Damaris Johnson to beat them early in the third quarter for a 44-yard touchdown reception.

However, Eli Manning actually kept his cool and stayed the course leading the G-Men to the win.

It was also reported that Eli had his Dunkin Donuts coffee this morning as well, which may have led to his error-free game.

The Giants offense finally looked to be in rhythm against the Texans on Sunday as New York won their first game of the season, 30-17 over Houston.

“It’s good to get that first win,” Manning said after the game.  “We didn’t want to go through (0-6) again.”

The Giants received solid games from both Victor Cruz (5 rec, 107 yds, 1 TD) and Rashad Jennings (34 car., 176 yards, 1 TD) as the offense showed rhythm throughout the entire game for the first time all season so far.  Manning went 21-for-28 for 234 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

Jennings’ 176 yard day beat his previous career-high of 150 he set against the Texans last year while he played for Oakland.

“This was huge for us, knowing we had to get this game and get this one under our belts with a short week and not wanting to look ahead,” Cruz said after the game.

Defensively, the Giants played what may have been their best game of the season, picking off Fitzgerald three times (his first three interceptions of the season), but still allowed the Texans to gain over 400 yards offense.

The Giants now have to find a way to win again on a short turnaround when they take on the new-look Redskins with quarterback Kirk Cousins on Thursday Night Football.
