Dennis Allen – Oakland Raiders

Allen may be the next victim in a long line of short-lived Raiders head coaches. Not that the Raiders’ struggles have been entirely his fault, but the head coach is usually where the axe falls…especially in Oakland.

Two consecutive 4-12 finishes combined with an 0-3 start this season have things looking bleak for Allen. Teams who start 0-2 have a slim chance of making the playoffs. 0-3 teams are basically pre-eliminated.

The sad part is, the Raiders aren’t even hoping for playoff teams right now. They’d settle for a winning team. The last time the Raiders finished a season over .500 was in 2002, which also happens to be the last time Raiders won a playoff game on their way to a 48-21 beating in the Super Bowl by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Raiders actually do have some good young talent this year, starting with rookie quarterback Derek Carr, but a group of green but exciting players may not be enough to save Dennis Allen’s job. The Raiders are going to have to show they’re going to end up with a winning season by Turkey Day for Allen to be among the employed.
