That Was Annoying

If you didn’t pick it up off my extensive knowledge of Joe McKnight’s career, I’m a Jets fan. I’m using this as an opportunity to rant for a second or two.

I spent way too much of my night defending second year quarterback Geno Smith. Much like Russell Wilson I have no idea how he’s going to turn out. And please don’t misconstrue that sentence for saying Smith is as good at this point as Wilson was, the Seattle QB was better.

Smith is playing better than he did in his rookie season, if you really attention that’s blatantly obvious. He still must improve. The major mistakes, specifically the turnovers and taking the bad sacks needs to stop.

With how Smith has progressed to this point he’s earned himself the rest of this season and next to see if it’s a young QB still going through growing pains or if it might be a non-fixable pattern. Even booting him after just three years for this reason might be somewhat unfair, but it’s an understandable decision.

For all the complains about the secondary, the Jets lost Monday night to the Chicago Bears because they couldn’t finish drives in the red zone. There’s many different choices of cause you can give to the result from play calling, personnel, to Geno’s decision making. Very simply it needs to get fixed and they need to build upon the good they’ve shown with their ability to move the ball.
