O.J. Mayo hangs out with Young Thug, primed for bounce back season

At one time, O.J. Mayo was expected to be the next big thing in the NBA. He was the best high school player in the country, he excelled at USC, and was drafted third overall in 2008. But things never quite turned out the way everyone hoped. That isn’t to say Mayo has been awful, because he hasn’t. He’s been a decent rotation player throughout his time in the league–but that’s not what you’re hoping to get from the third overall pick.

Last summer, after turning in a solid season with the Dallas Mavericks in 2012-13, Mayo was rewarded with a three year, 24 million dollar deal from the Milwaukee Bucks. But that first year in Milwaukee was a certifiable disaster. Mayo limped through the season overweight and struggling with injuries. All in all he played just 52 games while averaging less than 12 points a night as his season mirrored the nightmare that the Bucks went through as a team.

But just as there’s excitement and hope for the Bucks with Jabari and new owners in town, there’s also hope for O.J. Mayo to have a bounce back season. In fact, we’ll likely even be talking about him as an MVP candidate at the end of the year. That’s right, because Mayo was hanging out with Young Thug, and when you’re friends with Young Thug you can accomplish anything.

Like how can O.J. not have an amazing year after having a rare necklace bestowed upon him by national hero Young Thug? This is the beginning of a beautiful season.

Go Thugger. Go Mayo. Go Bucks.
