NFL: 5 teams in the running for the No. 1 overall draft pick
Minnesota Vikings
Let me make one thing clear: I loved the Mike Zimmer hire in Minnesota. He is a great coach with a proven background, and I expect him to one day guide the team to higher ranks.
That day just isn’t anytime soon. And it won’t be his fault.
How many teams can win without its All-World superstar? How many can sustain an offense without its far and away best weapon? The answer is not many.
The absence of Adrian Peterson has no doubt hindered the Vikings, who were forced to lean on plodding backup Matt Asiata and just handed over the reins to rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Like with the Rams, I don’t expect Minnesota to wind up with the league’s worst record, but it could be close.
