Alex Collins, RB Arkansas

Instead of “Alex Collins”, this should probably read “Arkansas running game”, but the 5-foot-11, 215-pound sophomore leads the Razorbacks in both carries (65) and yards (490), giving him the inside track at “player to watch” status. Arkansas travels to College Station to take on red-hot Texas A&M on Saturday, and if they have any chance to unseat the heavily favored Aggies, it will be on the back of their much-heralded running game.

The Razorbacks are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally in rushing offense, averaging nearly 325 yards per game, and the combination of Collins and Jonathan Williams has been potent. Collins is averaging 7.5 yards per carry for the season, but that isn’t even “good enough” to lead his team, as Williams sits at 8.1 yards per carry on 48 totes this season.

Texas A&M has a high-powered offense, led by QB Kenny Hill, and quite honestly, the best thing that Arkansas can do is to do dominate in time of possession using their running game. The Aggies do land in the top-50 among rushing defenses in the country, but they haven’t seen anything resembling the diverse attack from Arkansas, and you can expect a full dose of Alex Collins (and, frankly, Jonathan Williams) in this match-up.
