New England Patriots (-3) over Kansas City Chiefs

This is a “public” pick, and for that, I am somewhat ashamed. However, the Chiefs stink and that will come through in a big way on Monday evening.

Kansas City is riding high after a 19-point road win over Miami, and frankly, that is the only reason why this number is less than a touchdown, even in Arrowhead. However, the Chiefs have been putrid in pass offense (26th) and rushing defense (23rd), both areas that the Patriots are capable of excelling, and in a battle where Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have their backs against the wall, I will take New England each and every time.

I simply can’t see Alex Smith, without the benefit of a single above-average weapon in the passing game, succeeding against the top passing defense in football (New England has allowed only 168.7 passing yards per game) in a prime time spot, and without Jamaal Charles at full strength, Kansas City has a below-average offense. There is no doubt that the Patriots have struggled on offense this season, but they probably only need 20 points to cover this number, and that is wildly attainable against a banged-up Kansas City defense.

In Brady we trust.
