Michigan Football: Top 5 replacements should Brady Hoke be fired
5. Hugh Freeze- Ole Miss
Here’s a surprise for you. A coach that has been very impressive and not talked about much is Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze. While he may not be the big name the University of Michigan is supposed to bring in, he may not be a bad risk to take a chance on.
Freeze is in a contract year and has been with Ole Miss since 2012, posting a 19-11 record. Hugh Freeze took over a 2-10 Ole Miss team from 2011 and built them into a bowl winner in 2012, posting a 7-6 record and getting a big victory of Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl. The Ole Miss team also brought in a very good recruiting class including No. 1 overall recruit Robert Nkemdiche for the 2012 season. Ole Miss was impressive in 2012, before dropping their last two regular season games in heartbreaking fashion to Missouri and Mississippi State. They still finished 8-5 after a Music City Bowl victory over Georgia Tech. Ole Miss spanked Texas and also defeated LSU during the regular season.
In 2014, Freeze has led to Ole Miss to a 4-0 victory so far as they’ve spanked Boise State, Louisiana Lafayette, Vanderbilt and Memphis as they should, advancing to the top-10 in the rankings. If Freeze can hold a top-10 spot for the Rebels, he may be looking at a big offer from multiple teams outside of Mississippi including the Michigan Wolverines.
