1) NFC West

In my view, the Seattle Seahawks are the best team in the NFL and the Arizona Cardinals are for real at 3-0. However, both teams just completed their bye week in Week 4, and as a result, they ceded control of the narrative to the San Francisco 49ers, who were fantastic on Sunday. It was a throwback performance for San Francisco’s defense, who completely silenced a high-powered Philadelphia offense, and even amid rising concerns about Colin Kaepernick’s play at the quarterback position, the Niners can succeed on the back of that defense and the running game.

There isn’t much to say about the St. Louis Rams, who are in the midst of a quarterback “controversy” with a 1-2 record, but if a team with that level of defensive talent is easily the worst option of the four-member group. Things are looking up.

The NFC West holds the crown (again), but we will continue to evaluate on a weekly basis throughout the year.
