New York Jets at San Diego Chargers

At first glance this game looks like a lock for the Chargers. However, if you look at the numbers there is a ray of hope for the Jets. New York is the number one ranked defense against the run and the Chargers have had one of the absolute worst rushing attacks through the first few games. That should force San Diego to become one dimensional and Rex Ryan’s defenses are dangerous if he knows what is coming. In the end though, Phillip Rivers has simply played MUCH better than Geno Smith and I just can’t bring myself to pick against Rivers and the Chargers at home. At least not until Geno proves he can do a better job of closing out the close games.

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots

The Patriots were absolutely dismantled on Monday Night Football by the Kansas City Chiefs and now they have arguably the best team in the AFC coming to town to face off. The main reason that I like the Bengals in this one is how stingy the Cincinnati defense has been so far, allowing only eleven points per game. I don’t like what I’m seeing from Tom Brady at all and I think the end of the line may be coming much faster for him than many have expected. I think it’s possible that the Bengals actually pull this game off fairly comfortably.
