1. Cleveland Cavaliers:
2013-14 Record: 33-49

No surprises here. Even if the Cavs hadn’t miraculously landed Kevin Love in a trade because they miraculously won the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery, they’d still be at the top of our list simply from LeBron James’ return home. Like Miami, Cleveland has suddenly become a haven for title-hungry talent that wants to play with the league’s best player.

The Kyrie Irving-LeBron James-Kevin Love Big Three in Cleveland makes the Cavs nearly unanimous favorites in the Eastern Conference, but additions like Shawn Marion, Mike Miller, Lou Amundson and Brendan Haywood gives this team a lot more depth than they had after shipping out Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett in the trade for Love.

Cleveland is still in need of a rim protector. They need Anderson Varejao to stay healthy, they need Tristan Thompson to improve and they need as few distractions from Dion Waiters as possible. But even if this new and improved Cavs team doesn’t win a title in their first season together, they’ll still probably be the league’s most improved team in the NBA’s weakest conference.
