New England Patriots (+1) over Cincinnati Bengals

Welcome to another edition of “fade the public”!

The Patriots are reeling, and as there is no disputing that. However, this line would have been in New England’s favor by a field goal (at least) prior to last week, and this is an overreaction. More than 70% of the action is on Cincinnati on the road, and while the Bengals do have the added benefit of a week to prepare for this game, trusting Andy Dalton on the road against a defense with loads of talent is usually touble.

Do I believe that the New England Patriots are as good as we though they would be a month ago? Absolutely not, but at the same time, this is a must-win spot for the Pats, and with the entire universe on the other side, it seems too easy. Cincinnati has the worst run defense in the league, according to DVOA, and even if New England can’t throw the ball down the field (they can’t), they will win this one at home with defense and a multi-faceted running game.

This now concludes another edition of “fade the public”.
