The Orlando Magic have won just 43 games since trading Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers and are hopeful they can begin to turn the corner this year.

The Orlando Magic had a very busy offseason.

Gone are veterans Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson and Jason Maxiell. In are rookies Aaron Gordon (the fourth-overall pick) and Elfrid Payton (the 10th-overall pick). However, it isn’t a complete youth movement. The Magic agreed to terms with a couple of veterans – sharp-shooting big man Channing Frye and veteran guard Ben Gordon.

That’s a sign the Orlando Magic are looking to win. Their biggest weakness was shooting from the perimeter, something that is extremely important in this day and age and they clearly addressed that issue with those signings.

The big question is whether or not the Orlando Magic’s moves and excitement translate into victories.

Cody Taylor of Basketball Insiders believes the Orlando Magic will win between 28 and 32 games.

"I think the Magic should improve some this season. The improvement may not be quite what Magic fans want to see, but I think they’ll start winning more games than previous seasons. They brought in Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton in the first round of the draft and those are two guys that will need a season or two to develop before they really begin to help the Magic win games. I think an acceptable improvement would come somewhere between 28-32 wins."

The real key will be the development of their younger players like Payton, Gordon and especially Victor Oladipo. If those players can progress throughout the year, the Orlando Magic’s record won’t matter – they will be set up for the future quite nicely.
