Phoenix Suns’ Goran Dragic was the team’s best player during the 2013-2014 season. After this season, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent and an extension is unlikely.

Last season, Goran Dragic had a career-high and probably should have been named an all-star. If Goran Dragic has another big year, he could cash in as an unrestricted free agent. The Phoenix Suns, however, claim they want to keep Goran Dragic.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes Goran Dragic won’t get an extension and will become an unrestricted free agent.

"Extension is possible, but I think its far more likely he’s an unrestricted free agent next year and goes shopping for a monster payday. If Kyle Lowry gets $12 million a year, then Goran should get something close to that.I don’t think the Suns trade him unless he falls off, or their other guys really start to out play him. They have a ton of point guards."

Goran Dragic was the Suns’ best player last season and was the biggest of the many reasons for their improved play. However, after the Suns re-signed Eric Bledsoe to a five-year, $70 million deal, acquired Isaiah Thomas in a sign-and-trade with the Sacramento Kings and drafted former Syracuse Orange point guard Tyler Ennis, at least one, if not two of their point guards are expendable.

Goran Dragic averaged 20.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 50.5% from the floor, 40.8% from three and 76.0% from the charity stripe last season. In his six-year career, Dragić has gone for 11.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 46.1% from the floor, 36.5% from three and 74.7% from the foul line.
