Can Mohamed Sanu take his game to the next level?

With A.J. Green covered by Darrelle Revis all last week (which still resulted in five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown for Green), Sanu got a chance to see nine targets (tied for most in his career), hauling in five of them for 70 yards and a touchdown.

With Green out this week, and against a porous Carolina Panthers pass defense, Sanu has a chance to continue to build his reputation and improve his game.

Sanu isn’t as gifted athletically as Green or Marvin Jones, but he has steadily improved over the course of the season. If he wants to retain the targets he is getting, he’ll need to prove he can be consistent and reliable.

We’ve long thought that aside from Green, the Bengals didn’t have much in the way of receivers for quarterback Andy Dalton. Sanu has the chance to prove us wrong and further, become a very big part of this offense.

In order to do that, he needs to prove that he can overcome the attention which comes with being the top receiver in an offense, even for just a week.
