NFL Player Power Rankings Week 7: Running Backs
No. 10-6
10. Alfred Morris – Washington Redskins – previously no. 8
Alfred Morris may not be the flashiest running back in the league but despite the circus that has surrounded him these past two seasons in Washington, he just keeps producing. Thus far in 2014 he has over 400 total yards and three TDs. Once again, if his team could play with the lead more often his numbers could skyrocket.
9. Jamaal Charles – Kansas City Chiefs – previously no. 2
Jamaal Charles is without question one of the most dangerous and explosive weapons in all of the NFL. Unfortunately, he has been hampered by injuries and Andy Reid’s pass happy play calling. Despite those issues he’s still managed about 240 total yards, three TDs, and 4.6 yards per carry. If he can stay healthy he should once again be one of the top producers in all of the NFL, but if his touches don’t increase he could fall out of the top ten.
8. Giovani Bernard – Cincinnati Bengals – previously no. 13
Gio Bernard has benefited from Hue Jackson’s play calling as much as anyone in Cincinnati. Despite losing some touches to rookie Jeremy Hill he’s still amassed 384 yard rushing, 178 yards receiving, and four TDs. He’s a threat on the ground and through the air and his production has warranted a spot in the top ten.
7. Marshawn Lynch – Seattle Seahawks – previously no. 5
Marshawn Lynch is still “all about that action boss”, despite rumors that he might lose some touches to younger backs this season he continues to be Seattle’s workhorse. He has 367 yards rushing, 127 yards receiving and an impressive six total TDs. While the Seahawks have dropped a couple of games early this season it isn’t because Lynch has seen his abilities decline.
6. Justin Forsett – Baltimore Ravens – previously unranked
Lost in the shuffle of the Ray Rice fiasco is how well Justin Forsett has performed in his absence. Forsett didn’t make the first edition of this RB list and now he debuts all the way up at number six. In case you haven’t been paying attention and are wondering why in the world Forsett is ranked so high, look no further than his 408 yards rushing, an amazing 6.4 yards per carry, 23 receptions in the passing game, and three TDs. Forsett is producing WAY better than Ray Rice had recently and if he continues to be this productive he could continue to see more and more touches.
