Through three preseason games Jimmer Fredette was seven of thirteen on three-pointers, shooting over 56 percent from the field overall and averaging just over 13 points and two assists per game for the New Orleans Pelicans. Has relevancy finally found him?

Wray: Not to rain on the ol’ parade here, but last preseason Fredette made 60% of his threes and averaged 10.5 points and 3.2 assists a game (via RealGM). We will have to wait until January to know for sure. (January being the latest possible time that Eric Gordon is sidelined with a chronic injury, forcing Fredette into the rotation.)

Bennett: The Pelicans, essentially, have told Fredette to be better than one other person. Relevancy prefers him over Austin Rivers. Fredette may flourish in this spot.

McElroy: If you’re rooting for Jimmer to have a brief spark of genius that catapults him to overstated relevance, that’s fine, but please understand you’re basically saying “America only has one Tim Tebow and that is simply not enough for me.”

Leroux: If all they are asking him to do is hit open shots and serve as a secondary ballhandler, Jimmer could function nicely on the Pelicans. His biggest problem on offense has been the misguided idea that he should run the show which is too much to ask, at least at the NBA level.

Clinchy: Next.

Dubin: My official “Preseason performance doesn’t matter” stance is unchanged.

Maloney: Jimmer is on the Pelicans?

Dowsett: As a Utah resident and University of Utah graduate, any and all sentences containing “Jimmer” and “relevance” trigger a compulsive gag reflex in me.

Conlin: I’ll just leave this here *whistles inconspicuously*.

Oh, I beg your pardon, please don’t mind me, I’ll be out of here in no time, I’ll just leave this right over here *more inconspicuous whistling*

Partnow: Can we have Steve’s daughter ask about preseason?

McPherson: I refuse to acknowledge a man whose parents were graduates of the Kitchen Appliance Naming Institute.

Fenrich: The problem here is that Jimmer might be waiting for relevance to find him instead of going out and seizing it himself. But forget all that fatalist garbage. If New Orleans finds a way to make a pro out of Fredette, then what’s up with the Bulls? Sacramento’s inability to develop someone is no surprise, but Chicago may need to look inward and see where on god’s green earth they went wrong. That’s assuming that Jimmer sustains this madness.
