By Wes Goldberg
It didn’t take long for the New York Jets to screw up, giving the New England Patriots an easy touchdown by Shane Vereen to start Thursday Night Football.

One of my favorite things might be when the New York Jets hype themselves up, then fall flat on their face. It’s like if Charlie Brown got himself pumped up to a “Started From The Bottom” hype video before trying to kick the football being held by Lucy, then landing butt-first in the dirt.
The Jets came out Thursday night against the New England Patriots, artificially pumped like a pair of Reeboks. Then this happened on the second play of the game.
It looked like the Jets corner, playing in a zone coverage, was giving the coverage of Vereen to the safety, who apparently didn’t care that Shane Vereen was going deep. A throw like that is way too easy for Tom Brady, and was a welcome sight for the quarterback who had been dealing with receivers struggling to get open all season.
