. Glen Rice Jr. also sprained his ankle last week, so Porter is the next man up.
According to J. Michael’s story from earlier today, Porter practiced at shooting guard as the Wizards got ready for their exhibition game against the Charlotte Hornets Friday night.
One of the NBA’s youngest and best teams, the Washington Wizards are looking to improve on their 2013-2014 season that ended in the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
The former Georgetown Hoya was drafted third overall in the 2013 draft but only played 37 games due to several injury issues throughout the season.
Porter averaged only 8.6 minutes per game and even less during the Wizards’ short-but-sweet playoff run that included a first round win over the injury-ridden Chicago Bulls.
While Bradley Beal will retain his starting job when he returns, Porter is hopeful he can prove why the Wizards took him with a lottery pick last season.
Porter will have to fend off Martell Webster and Glen Rice Jr. for Beal’s minutes the first couple weeks of the season.
