Seattle Seahawks Asked Randy Moss To Replace Percy Harvin Before Super Bowl Run

The Seattle Seahawks traded Percy Harvin this week to the New York Jets but just how depth of how hated Harvin was in Seattle keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Percy Harvin will be making his New York Jets debut next Sunday but the story of how he eroded his career in Seattle in just over a year is still being unspooled. all of the dirt about Harvin is now coming out, from his fights with teammates to how disliked he was by some in the locker room to just how close the team was to cutting him if they could trade him.

Another bizarre twist to the story came from Jay Glazer, who broke the new of Harvin’s trade on Friday afternoon.

Glazer reported on Fox NFL Kickoff on Fox Sports 1 that the Seattle Seahawks floated out an offer to retired wide receiver Randy Moss to see if he wanted to join the team and take the roster spot of Percy Harvin before their Super Bowl in last year. A few minutes after the report, Moss — who is an analyst on the show — confirmed the offer came and that he politely declined it.

According to Glazer, the Seahawks were very prepared to place Harvin on injured reserve at the end of the 2013 season which wasn’t that big of a secret at the time. But what a secret is that the team was floating out an offer to Moss to see if he wanted to come back for a playoff run.

It’s interesting to wonder who different the Seahawks playoff run to the Super Bowl would have been, as Harvin didn’t play that big of a role in the Super Bowl victory. Not a lot would have changed, but the rift between the Seahawks and Harvin would have been identified a lot earlier.

That, and the legend of Randy Moss would have ballooned to a whole new level — so we can be a little upset about that.
