1. J.J. Watt, Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are currently sitting at 3-3, and have a big game this evening against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. J.J. Watt has once again been a huge playmaker, and he has put his name deep into the MVP discussion. At this point in time, there is no question that he is the front-runner for the award.

Despite the fact that his team hasn’t been playing extremely good football, he has put up monster numbers this year. He has recorded 26 total tackles, 4.0 sacks, six batted down passes, an interception that he returned for 80 yards and a touchdown, and two fumble recovers with one being returned 45 yards for a touchdown. Those numbers speak for themselves as far as why he is the leader for the award.

Houston may not end up even making the playoffs in the AFC, but that won’t be because Watt let them down. He has been putting up big games each time has has stepped on the field, and that isn’t going to stop. Watt will continue performing at the level that he has been, and will continue beefing up his MVP case.
