Jerick McKinnon-RB-Minnesota Vikings (11.7%)

McKinnon was our #1 pickup last week, but he’s still owned in less than one quarter of leagues.  He took over as the primary running back two weeks ago in the Minnesota and has turned in two solid efforts against some of the better run defenses in the league.

His first game as primary rusher came against the Lions in week 6.  McKinnon only rushed for 40 yards but added 42 more yards through the receiving game leading his team in both rushing and receiving.  He followed up that effort with a strong week 7 in Buffalo where he ran for 103 yards against a strong Bills run defense.  McKinnon has yet to find the end zone, but he’s clearly the top option in the Minnesota backfield and is the only clear #1 back who is widely available.

McKinnon isn’t in a great offense to be sure, but he’s proven he can produce even in tough matchups and has a much easier schedule coming up.  This week, McKinnon takes on the Bucs who allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing RB’s.  McKinnon will be a workhorse back the rest of the season, and is a flex consideration in every matchup based on his volume of work.
