8) AFC South

This was almost the week for the AFC South to climb out of the basement. The Indianapolis Colts appear to be for real after five straight victories punctuated by a 27-0 bloodbath over the Cincinnati Bengals, and for good measure, the Jacksonville Jaguars actually won a football game on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Houston Texans had to go and ruin the party for everyone.

Houston was a favorite on the road in Pittsburgh, and after a lights-out first quarter, it appeared that the Texans were on their way to 4-3 on the year in an effort to give Indy some competition. Then, disaster struck, and because the division could not boast a second team with a winning record, they fall closely behind the 7th-ranked group for at least one more week.

It probably didn’t help that the Tennessee Titans lost to a Colt McCoy-led Washington team too, but we’ll blame the Texans this time around.
