No. 16-13

16. Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions

We are now entering the massive talent, average production zone of these rankings. Matthew Stafford hasn’t been bad this season. He also isn’t showing any signs of taking that next step and becoming one of the best QBs in the NFL. Stafford piles up a bunch of yards every year, but in the end he leaves you feeling like he’s capable of more.

15. Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears

This season is a real test for Jay Cutler and his future. Like Stafford, he has all the physical tools you could ever want, but also like Stafford he leaves you feeling like he’s not living up to his potential. With Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett, and Matt Forte at his disposal and all the physical tools to be a star there just isn’t any excuse for Cutler to just be average. Unfortunately for Bears fans, that’s exactly what Cutler is right now.

14. Colin Kaepernick – San Francisco 49ers

The final entry in the talent over production zone is Colin Kaepernick. Not only does Kaep possess the arm talent of a Stafford or Cutler, but he’s also a freak athlete as well. He’s second amongst all NFL QBs with 262 rushing yards and is averaging 245.6 yards per game passing with 11 TDs and five interceptions. I feel like Kaepernick is slowly improving and if he ever puts it all together he could be the best dual threat QB that the league has ever seen.

13. Eli Manning – New York Giants

Eli Manning has been up and down through the first seven weeks. He started the season looking lost in the Giants new offense. Then he got hot and looked like the Eli that won two Super Bowls. Now the last two weeks the Giants have dropped a couple of road games and maybe the truth is that Eli is somewhere between the two. His 14 TDs are tied for fifth highest in the NFL and his QBR is the sixth highest, but one can’t help but feel like a three interception game could be lurking just around the corner.
