8. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons

It’s hard to rank Matt Ryan. On one hand he’s putting up almost 300 yards per game and has 13 TDs. On the other hand his lack of a starting offensive line is starting to catch up on him. So do you hold Ryan’s swiss cheese offensive line against him? When he has time he’s one of the better QBs in the NFL, but that seems like it’s happening less and less often. Eventually if he can’t produce because of it he’ll start to drop down the rankings.

7. Tom Brady – New England Patriots

Just when we were all ready to declare Tom Brady officially past his prime he’s come back with a vengeance. Brady is now sitting with thirteen TDs to just two interceptions. He’s never going to be the prolific QB he was in his hey day, but he’s also far from washed up. The criticism he received after the Pats beat down on Monday Night Football in KC seems to have lit a fire in him. If he keeps it up he has a chance to get himself back into the top five.

6. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks

Somewhere between last year’s Super Bowl win and the start of this season Russell Wilson went from a QB that won because the team around him was so good to basically trying to carry the team on his back. Not only has he thrown for ten TDs and only two interceptions, but he’s rushed for 327 yards (best amongst all QBs) with an additional three rushing TDs. Apparently the Seahawks aren’t too worried about the weapons that Russell has at his disposal since they just traded away Percy Harvin for $1.50 and a Starbucks gift card.

5. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo in the top five? I don’t really believe it myself and it’s my list. However, the offensive line and running game in Dallas has taken the pressure off of Romo and he has responded with flying colors. Romo has the highest completion percentage in the NFL, the third highest QBR (85.0), the fourth highest QB Rating (104.7), the third highest YPA average (8.4), and has fourteen TDs to just six INTs. Romo is simply playing fantastic football and deserves this spot on the list.
