Houston Rockets Meet With Kenyon Martin For Coaching Role
By Scott Allen
Kenyon Martin, 14-year veteran of the NBA, met with the Houston Rockets but it wasn’t to play for the team
Per ProBasketballTalk.com NBA Veteran Kenyon Martin made a visit to the Houston Rockets on Friday but the visit wasn’t what you may think. He was there to be interviewed for a coaching spot on the Rockets staff, not to come in as a free-agent player.

Martin, who has averaged 12.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, may have come to the realization that his playing days could be over. It certainly may open some eyes if the Rockers do indeed give him a chance in that role.
When I think of Martin, I think of a hard-nosed player who was tough to deal with in the post but I’ve never thought of him as being a coach. When you do stop and think about it though, maybe with all his experience he has something to impart on others?
Martin has spent the last two seasons with the New York Knicks. However he only played 50 games over those two seasons, while averaging 21.8 minutes a game and 5.7 points a game. Certainly seems like a guy who is headed towards retirement from playing.
The Rockets must know something about him the rest of us don’t. He might have the experience but how does that translate to a coaching career for him? No word so far on how the meeting went.
