5. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are struggling in a big way so far this season, but Cam Newton has still come through and shown some of his full potential. Last season, he led the Panthers to the playoffs and put together one of the best seasons that Carolina has had in quite some time. Newton has every skill that he needs to take the next step, and if the Panthers give him the weapons has the potential to be an elite quarterback in the future.

Newton has thrown for 1,643 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions so far this season, but doesn’t have nearly the type of weapons that he had last year. The Panthers allowed all three of their top wide receivers to walk, and didn’t bring in nearly enough talent to help replace them.

It will be intriguing to see what they do next year to bring in more targets for Newton, but he is still confident that the Panthers can turn things around this year. He has great leadership skills as well, and also has the legs to make plays on the ground. Carolina is very high on Newton moving forward, and they believe that he has plenty of room to grow.
