NFL Midseason Review: Denver Broncos and Everybody Else

Super Bowl Matchup: Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals
Maybe I’m too high on the Cardinals, but I can make a case for at least five NFC teams to make the Super Bowl. Arizona feels the safest, honestly.
With Carson Palmer’s rejuvenation, the Cardinals have an actual chance to put points on the board because of their weapons. Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Ellington, and John Brown are threats to score from, literally, anywhere on the field, as we saw in Arizona’s comeback win against the Eagles in Week 8. Palmer hit Brown for a 75-yard game-winning touchdown pass with less than one minutes to play. That kind of big play potential keeps the Cardinals in any game.
While Palmer and the skill position players are clicking, the Cardinals’ offensive line is making it all possible. In the past, it was only a matter of time before Palmer nearly had his head ripped off by a blitzing linebacker. That’s happened less this season, and it’s the reason the Cardinals are in first-place in the NFC West, one of the best divisions in football.
When talking about Arizona, you can’t leave out the defense. Patrick Patterson, Antonio Cromartie, and Tyrann Mathieu are possible the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL. Plus, the Cardinals defensive line and linebackers have been surprisingly solid after losing key players from last season’s top five front seven.
While the Cardinals are a decent pick to make the Super Bowl, the team from the AFC they’d likely face is much better.
