NFL: Teams Most Likely to Make Second Half Run
By Pete Schauer
Houston Texans (4-4)
After dropping three games in a row in Weeks 5-7, the Houston Texans picked up a much-needed 30-16 win over the fellow AFC South Tennessee Titans this past weekend.
J.J. Watt has been a complete beast this season–he’s easily the front-runner to win Defensive Player of the Year–and Arian Foster is the No. 2 back in the NFL, having rushed for at least 100 yards in six out of seven of the Texans’ games.
Houston will have to lean heavily on the running game through the second half of the season, though. Ryan Fitzpatrick has only nine touchdowns to seven interceptions and owns the 21st passer rating in the league (87.6).
The good news for the Texans is that their schedule eases up after their Week 10 bye, with two matchups against the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as games against the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans.
I don’t see Houston overtaking the Indianapolis Colts in the South, but I do think they have a shot to make a run in the second half and clinch a Wild Card spot.
