Manning face after Super Bowl XLIV
One of the worst moments of Manning’s career came in Super Bowl XLIV.
The Colts defeated the New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game to return to the Super Bowl for the second time with Manning at the helm and battled the New Orleans Saints, who took advantage of Minnesota Vikings’ turnovers to win the NFC Championship.
The Colts had an early 10-0 but saw it disappear, largely because of a surprise onside kick by the Saints to start the second half. After Drew Brees found Jeremy Shockey for a touchdown and Lance Moore for the two-point conversion, Manning got the ball back trailing 24-17. The Colts drove from their own 30 to the Saints’ 31 when disaster struck. Manning looked for Reggie Wayne but was intercepted by Tracy Porter, who returned the interception 74 yards for a touchdown, clinching the game for the Saints.
Afterwards, Manning gave another classic Manning face, this time in disgust as he walked off the field, helmet-on as usual.
